EXCLUSIVE DOCUMENTARY PHOTO STORY CONTENT - NOT PUBLISHED ANYWHERE ELSE - In the early morning of February 27, 2010, the Chilean coast between Conception and Constitution was hit by one of the strongest earthquakes in modern history. 21 Minutes later the first of four Tsunami waves destroyed the lower parts of coastal towns. The quake had a magnitude of 8.8 on the Richter Scale and ranks as the 5th worst for the entire world since 1900. In thirteen images this photo story takes you up close to the devastation and its survivors. Photographing inside collapsed houses, Meijer enables you to actually feel the horrors of that fateful night. But this story is also a celebration of the strength and resilience of the human spirit, made visible in images of the first rebuilding efforts.
